Today we have the the most delicious and homemade all natural granola bars for you! They are protein packed full of vitamins and nutrients. I asked my friend who makes these if she would share her recipe. I can’t believe how easy it is! My favorite part about these bars is how perfect they are to put in a kid’s lunch pail for school or an on-the-go snack in a purse with our lipstick 🙂
Ingredients:
2 cups almond butter
4 medium over ripe bananas
4 cup of oats
1/2 cup of agave
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of sea salt
2 teaspoons of vanilla
1/2 cup of chia & flax seed with coconut and cocoa (Spectrum brand and can be found online here and at most all health food stores). This can be optional but adds an amazing flavor and added health benefits.
1 cup of honey
1 cup of chopped walnuts
1 cup of raisins
1 cup fruit optional (really good with chopped up apples or dried cherries)
Directions:
Mash the bananas then blend them together with the almond butter. We used a kitchen aid and just dumped all the ingredients in. Super Easy! Slowly add in the rest of the ingredients while mixing all together. Grease two 9×13 pans (this will make 32 bars) and pour half in one and half in another.
Spray some pam on a large ziplock bag and pat down the granola batter (perk~ this has nothing raw in it. Go ahead and sneak some!)
Bake at 350 degrees for 22-24 minutes or until golden on top. Take out and let cool to room temperature. Cut long way into 16 bars per pan.
The best way to keep these is in the freezer. They have no preservatives so they stay the most fresh like this. I store them each in individual snack size zip locks or wrap in saran wrap. They thaw out in about 20 minutes so they make the perfect grab and go healthy snack!
Fun Fact: Did you know that Watermelon can act as a sunscreen? It is a food high in antioxidants, carotenoids and lycopene all which help protect skin from the sun’s UV Rays. So eat or drink up!
Today our friend Heather over at my healthy eating secrets shares with us her watermelon smoothie recipe. Heather uses only fresh all fruit in her smoothies and says she has perfected this after lots of experimenting. And it’s only 2 ingredients!
You’ll need:
4 cups watermelon cut into bite size cubes
Place watermelon in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Add the frozen strawberries to the watermelon and blend until very smooth. Ready to drink! This is so refreshing on a hot day. It’s also a healthy little treat when you need to curb those afternoon junk food cravings.
XOXO

Where do you buy the chia and flax blend?
You can find it at any health food store. Sprouts, mothers, whole foods and even online should all have it. You can even make these with out that chia and flax mix and they are still amazing. Hope you like these bars!
