banana boats

A favorite summer activity of ours is heading down to the beach at sunset and making banana boats.  Although nothing tops a good old fashioned s’more, these sure seem to be all the rage with my family these days. All you need is:
~ bananas
~ toppings of your choice
~ foil
~ a plastic knife
~ spoons

Some of our favorite toppings include: any flavor of chocolate chips, marshmallows, nuts, heath bar pieces & coconut.

Start off by building your fire. You don’t want the flames too big and a nice settled pit works best.

Next, cut the bananas down the middle of the sides. Take out a portion of the banana to make room for toppings and save the lid.

Let the fun begin!  I like to set it up as a “build your own” bar and the kids love to personalize theirs.

Put banana lid over toppings and completely wrap in foil.  Place around the fire and let them sit for about 5-8 minutes.

Indulge in your melted sea of gooey perfection! Tip: a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top is amazing!

Both kids and adults go bananas for these 🙂

XOXO
SUMMER

  1. Whenever we visit my parents, the kids always roast hotdogs then make these for dessert in their fire pit. We love them!
