let's get festive

Holiday season is here and as parties begin to conquer the calender we can’t help but get consumed with coordinating Christmas creations that make us look as good as the gifts under the tree. When it’s time for me to be party ready(I’m horrible at doing hair and makeup myself), I hit up my trustiest beauty conscious ladies, Korinne & Kristi of Lashes to Locks. Since we have 12 kids between the three of us, scheduling them in can be a challenge, but even with my last minute requests they always come through for me. I asked them what was happening for this Christmas season and here is what they said. ‘This season is all about the yin and yang effect. Opposites are attracting all over the industry right now. Whether it’s pairing a light lace dress with a heavy leather jacked or studded booties with feminine floral patterns, there is an unbalanced look playing a huge role in today’s trends and hair and makeup is no exception.’
Our first look on hairstylist Korinne is a perfect example of this trend. Creating a casual center part and keeping the bulk of volume concentrated on the ends of the hair is a vast contrast from the side swept snook bumps that we choose to keep locked up with the ghosts of Christmas’ past.
Her makeup was equally favoring the bold contrasting trend rocking a show stopping lip with a subtle and neutral lid.

Our makeup artist Kristi knows all about the yin and yang effect considering she shaved the side of her head while embracing it. Playing up a very popular trend of one-sided fullness, she drapes her hair over her shoulder allowing for accessories to be on full display. While lips are having a mucho huge moment this season, it’s fun to play up a heavier eye and let your lips rest while your lashes speak volumes.
