| May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month |
I grew up with a dad who is a Dermatologist so sun protection has always been a BIG part of my life! As a teenager I struggled with my dads guidelines and often found myself rebelling by laying on the balcony on sheets of tinfoil with a bottle of baby oil resulting in a burn/peel/freckle cycle. Fast forward to my adult years and I do everything I possibly can to avoid too much sun exposure. Not only to protect myself from skin cancer, but also to slow down the aging process.
Facts:
On average, one person dies EVERY hour in America from Skin Cancer.
Melanoma is the most common cancer in young adults and the second most diagnosed cancer in children.
More than 90% of our visible skin aging is caused by the sun.
Guidelines:
Stay out of the direct sun from 10am to 4pm.
For daily use apply no less than an SPF 20.
Apply sunscreen at 30 mins prior to sun exposure.
Cover up! Invest in hats.
See your physician EVERY year for a professional skin exam.

1. This Maui Babe block has become a favorite of mine. It rubs in really easily, smells great and the bottle seems to last longer than others.
2. I’ve been using the M.A.C tinted moisturizer with SPF for years now. I get great coverage, moisture and SPF 15 with it!
3. My kids love to use Zinka for long days at the beach. Comes in lots of colors and makes sunscreen cool for kids.
4. My dad loves this line of skin care. So I guess that means I do too.:)
5. Jenna introduced me to Skin Ceuticals sunscreen. I’ve found myself buying it over and over again.
5. I like to grab this Neutrogena sunblock at any drugstore to keep in the car incase we need it. It’s affordable and does the job!
Some of my favorite hats right now!

I had a basal cell carcinoma this year so I am being extra careful from now on. It is really scary.
Self tanners are getting better but I still haven’t found one that I love. Any recommendations?
I love the banana boat rub on and the bare essentials faux tan as well as fake bake!
