The real mom behind Tangled Tantrum

How did you think to start tangled tantrum? 

I’ve been working in the beauty industry for 12 years. I started off my career as a make-up artist and then I became a hairstylist. After working 10 years full-time behind the chair and using almost every brand out there; there just wasn’t something that I absolutely loved.  When my husband and I started having kids, it was a fight every night at bath time to brush out our kid’s hair. Our son has the most gorgeous head of thick hair and his sister is just the opposite…most people would call it thin; we refer to it as, “cotton candy”!  Our kids definitely did not want to use “mom products” so I thought that if they had “their own products” that were awesome, smelled amazing, worked great, and had cool eye catching graphics then we wouldn’t have to deal with the Tangled Tantrums every night.

Tell us about the product and why it’s different from others… Our Detangling & Conditioning Spray is formulated with botanical extracts that is light weight which detangles & conditions the hair at the same time. It adds body and maintains a healthy scalp. It repairs split ends to leave the hair looking healthy and ready to style. Pro-vitamin B5 adds shine and conditions. Wheat amino acids strengthen, while aloe, sage and chamomile soothe.  It doesn’t create a thick build-up like other brands. The Separation Anxiety Styling Paste gives outrageous control and separation! You can create spiky and styled hair while taming away frizz.  All Tangled Tantrum products are Paraben-free! Parabens are synthetic preservatives that companies use which have shown some seriously scary side effects. Parabens can mimic hormones, causing problems with reproduction, digestion, and even early puberty in kids. We wanted a product that was safe to use on our kids and ourselves. Adults can use these products too! Our spray helps your hair color from not fading, so when the kiddos aren’t looking, spray some into your own hair! 

What has it been like to see your vision come to life? 

It truly has been amazing! Words cannot even describe. It has been almost two years in the making. From the chemists, to the lab, manufacturing and everything in between has taken a very long time; but to see it come to life has been the most rewarding. It definitely has not been easy working so hard on this product while simultaneously working as a stylist full-time and being a wife and mother. I have the most supportive husband and he has been there for me 100% of the way! Seeing the look on our kids Cru and Callie’s faces when I handed them their very own bottle of Tangled Tantrum was priceless! They were so stoked! 

I have been so blessed to get hooked up with the most talented artist in the world! He read my mind and was able to illustrate exactly what I was thinking. Kids like art, they like cool graphics that are eye catching. They would rather have that than something boring. We could not have done this without him! What has been the most rewarding/best thing? 

I am completely overwhelmed and appreciative of the love people have shown for Tangled Tantrum. We launched our business in February 2013. We have had such wonderful blog posts and reviews by so many fabulous people.  I get so excited reading what people have to say about us! I absolutely love seeing peoples before and after pictures! It’s awesome!

The salon that I currently work at has been super supportive with helping me promote and sell the Tangled Tantrum products. The girls I work with are all wonderful. They have pushed the products and I’m so thankful for them.
