Skin Care for all ages

Meet Rachel & Olivia. These two beauties definitely know that taking care of their skin is important. Let’s face it, the teenage years can be really difficult in managing skin problems and figuring out how to wear the right amount of make-up. The main concern for teenagers are those dreadful break-outs. It’s so important to wash your face morning and night. Adding an extra wash after working out and sweating is a really good habit to start. If break outs get worse you may need to visit your dermatologist to get a strong enough cleanser or cream to kill the bacteria. Also, picking the correct make-up is really important. You need to find products that won’t clog your pores.   Here are a few tips from these 2!
Rachel & Olivia
Olivia- I wash my face morning and night with a cleanser that has 5% benzoyl peroxide in it. We got it at my dermatologist’s office. I also use a low percent of Retin-A cream every night and my skin has been clear ever since.  I  love Neutrogena products. They don’t clog my pores and they give me a fresh and natural look. I use the SkinClear Compact Powder, Skin Clearing Blemish Concealer with the Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer. I  also use the healthy glow blush. I love the Neutrogena Revitalizing lip balm in sunny berry. It has a SPF20 in it which is a bonus!

Rachel- I use Bare Minerals because it’s good for my skin, light and also has an SPF (sun protection) in it. I love the Paint Pot eyeshadows from MAC. They stay on all day. A little goes a long way. The Lip Coulor lipgloss from MAC are also a favorite because I can apply and it will last a couple of hours.

We both love the Almay liquid eyeliner. Also the Colossal Mascara from Maybeline is our absolute favorite.
This is the beautiful Emily Jackson who has a lifestyle and fashion blog called Ivory Lane.
Emily makes time for herself each day to take care of her skin. She obviously has flawless skin and has done an amazing job. The 20’s are all about keeping your skin out of the sun. Wear your sunscreen even when you’re not laying out. Wear a tinted moisturizer that also provides an SPF of at least 20. Start wearing sunscreen on your neck, chest and hands to prevent skin discoloration. I always encourage my clients in their 20’s to really start getting on a faithful skincare regimen. Don’t miss a day without sunscreen. Exfoliate your skin 2x a week. I even encourage a chemical peel or medical grade facial every couple months. I preach prevention all the time. If you prevent a sunburn today you will have less sun spots & wrinkles in the future. We are so happy to have Emily on L&L today to share her tips and favorite products with us.
Emily.
The first thing I do when I wake up is wash my face with Vital C facial cleanser and put my favorite moisturizer on, Jergens Natural Glow. I then apply my makeup. I never touch my face while putting my makeup on. For my foundation I use the Mac Duo Fiber Face Brush. It blends makeup flawlessly. A couple other brushes I use: blush brushbronzer brush. I try to clean my brushes once a month and I just use my Purology shampoo to do that.

My absolute favorite product ever is the YSL “gold pen”  highlighter. it brightens up my face when I’m feeling tired.  Apply underneath your eyes. It works like a charm to freshen up your face. My other makeup products I use and love are the Mac foundationBare Minerals bronzer in warmthBobbi Brown blush in Nude Pink.

At night I have the same routine as I do in the morning. Wash my face with Vital C cleanser, moisturize with Jeurgens natural glow. Vital C facial cleanser can be purchased at Suggestions Salon. Just call to place your order.  –Emily Jackson with Ivory Lane
At this point your skin starts to get dry. Switch out your foaming cleanser for a cream based cleanser or something that won’t strip your natural oils from your skin. You need to start applying an eye cream every night. Every product you use should count. Find products that have antioxidants, vitamins and sunscreen in them. Add a retinoid to your skin to improve the overall texture and tone of your skin. Anti-aging moisturizers, collagens and peptides are important at this point. Medical facials, chemical peels, photo facials and injections are definitely considered age appropriate at this point. I can’t tell you how many questions I get about botox and fillers for wrinkles. It’s a personal choice and definitely a choice to be made with your doctor.

I love this Olay cleanser with little micro beads. In the morning I wash my face and then use the C E FERULIC serum. This works as a antioxidant with the Vitamin C, also adds extra moisture with Vitamin E and the Ferulic Acid gives my skin extra protection from the harmful rays of the sun. It’s my favorite product on the market. After the C E Ferulic I put my Obagi Hydrate moisturizer on. Then I add my Daily Defense Sunscreen

At night I cleanse my skin and then I put on 2 drops of Blemish + Age Defense. This product fights acne/blemishes and works on fine lines and wrinkles. I put on my Obagi Hydrate and my Eye Balm. Once a week I use the Clarins face self tanner during the winter. In the summer I use it daily. I also add a few drops of Blue Orchid Face Oil to my moisturizer when I’m feeling really dry.

  13. I follow on FB, Pinterest, and Instagram. I pinned skincare in your 30s. My favorite product right now is Garnier BB Cream. It’s really lightweight and it has an SPF.

  14. And do you have any recommendations for my almost 14 year with difficult skin? We have to switch her skincare products about every 3-4 months because it seems like they lose their effectiveness on her. It’s really frustrating for both of us. Maybe I should just take her to a dermatologist?

  15. Follow all- instagrammed 30’s & up. I’ve only been using it for about a month, but so far I really like the Tarte Maracuja-C Brightening Eye cream. It really hasn’t lightened up my undereye circles, but my crow’s feet wrinkles on my eyes are less prominent and it makes my eye skin just feel super nice.
My favorite everyday musts are my Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturizer and MAC fix spray. And, not a skincare thing, but Smashbox hyperlash mascara (super love this one!)

  16. I have been an IG follower, but just now followed u on FB and Pinterest. My favorite product is the clarisonic cleaning tool, a MUST HAVE!! I also like Murad Vitamin C moisturizer.

  17. I have been following you on FB, Pinterest and Instagram!
    Pinned skincare in your 30’s.
Right now my favorite product is coconut oil as a moisturizer because my skin has been so DRY!
